Par-tay!

Well, now that we know our health insurance is working just fine, we decided to celebrate!  Our next-door neighbor, Rylie, turned a year old on July 21st and we went to her party today.  Nicky had lots of fun playing with the other kids there.  When we were done, we went across the street [...]

Growing?

I keep expecting Nicky to grow some teeth or grow into the next clothing size (which is 24 months!) any day now.  For the past month or so, he’s been exhibiting teething behavior, runny nose, always wanting things in his mouth, drooling, and a couple of restless nights, too.  He’s also been taking great [...]

Nicky will have a very Happy Heiny

We liked all of the cloth diapers we tried for different reasons, but our favorite was the Happy Heiny brand, so we purchased a 6-pack that arrived yesterday.  After they took a trip through the wash, I arranged all of our diapers into a beautiful rainbow:

I’m really glad [...]

Cuteness!

Nicky has really picked up speed with his walking.  I think it’s his preferred method of travel these days; he doesn’t crawl that much any more.  He can even get up on his own, without using anything for help, but he doesn’t do that too much yet.  He still loves to be chased around [...]

Photo updates

I’ve posted a few new photos here.  There are some cute ones, obviously, since he’s Nicky!

Turning over a new leaf

I called the allergist’s office this morning to see if there were any cancellations/openings for us before the 30th, and we were in luck – they got us in at 11:00 this morning!  I was very happy because I felt like I needed more guidance than what we were getting.

Dr. Friedman is great!  [...]

More cloth diapers

I had tried the Mommy’s Touch diaper once already and we tried it again yesterday.  I liked it – the tabs can velcro over each other to grow with the baby.

When I went to work, I had Chuck try the bumGenius diaper.  Like many of the cloth pocket diapers, they come with two [...]

Following up

We saw Dr. Shin, Nicky’s pediatrician, on Thursday.  She referred us to Dr. Elizabeth Friedman, and allergy/immunology specialist who works with children lots.  We have an appointment to see her on Wednesday, July 30th but might get in sooner if there’s a cancellation.

I’d rather have him paint with poop.

Yesterday was completely insane.  For starters, we were still trying to get back on schedule from all of the travelling we did this weekend.  We went to a Fourth of July party at Aunt Patty’s in Rush on Friday and an engagement party for my sister and Jerry in Buffalo on Sunday.  It usually [...]

Test piloting

Margaret started using cloth diapers for Parker a few months ago, and I became very intrigued by the whole thing.  There are several pros to doing this:

better for the environment cheaper than disposables (savings even over a few months) babies potty-train easier with cloth diapers less diaper rash (though we’ve never had a [...]
