Yesterday was my first experience bringing Nicky out into the world by myself. I’m pleased to report that we made it!
We had my 6-week follow-up appointment with my OB at 9:20am. He was wide awake at the office and loved all the oohing and aahing over him. He fell asleep during my exam, which went well. Dr. Kerpelman said I’m healing well and I’ve only got 2 pounds to go before I’m at my pre-pregnancy weight. I also got a flu shot, recommended by the pediatrician. Since Nicky’s too young to get the shot himself, some of the antibodies from my body should pass to him through the breastmilk.
We went home afterwards for a little bit, then we met Diane at Chili’s for lunch. He slept the entire time; I even had time to stop at Wal-Mart after that to pick up some baby oil and a mirror for the backseat of the Vibe so that I can keep an eye on Nicky while I’m driving. He woke up a little bit at Wal-Mart, just enough to smile at a few of the people in the pharmacy.
We made it home in one piece, and now I feel more confident about taking him places in the future! Good thing, because tomorrow’s our first trip to Buffalo to celebrate my sister’s birthday. We’ll be gone all day, so it’ll be an adventure!
