Chuck’s been on his way home for two days now. He left Boise yesterday morning, after his original flight to Chicago had been cancelled. He was then scheduled to go to San Francisco then Chicago, but ended up going to Denver to Chicago. His Chicago to Rochester flight was originally scheduled to leave around 4:30, then got postponed to around 7:30, then to 8:20, then 8:45, then back to 8:20, then 9:00, then 10:00, then (I think) 11:00 before they finally cancelled it. He had to stay in a hotel in Chicago last night, then get up this morning, only to have his flight to Washington, D.C. delayed JUST enough to make his miss his flight to Rochester by TEN MINUTES!
Then, he tried to get to Buffalo instead, but the kiosks weren’t working to print out boarding passes with all of the delays, so he stood in a line for over THREE hours only to find out that not only could he not get a flight to Rochester, Buffalo or Syracuse tonight, he probably couldn’t get one for tomorrow, either.
So, now he’s driving home. It’s been about two hours since I’ve talked to him; because he wasn’t planning on driving, he didn’t bring the car charger and his cell phone is just about dead, so he’s probably trying to drive as far as he can before eating and finding a plug to sit by for a bit. Google maps estimates about 7 hours of travel time, so I imagine he’ll be here around 2 this morning IF the roads are okay.
What an adventure for everyone…especially Chuck! It’s like an epic love story…racing home to give a Valentine’s kiss to his pregnant wife…
