I think the Tooth Fairy must have flown over our street and sprinkled her dust over our houses…I talked to Katie yesterday (she lives next door and her daughter, Rylie, is about a month older than Nicky) and Rylie grew her first tooth over the weekend, too!
I pulled out What to Expect the First Year and discovered that all of Nicky’s recent behaviors add up to teething. The good news is that his waking up in the middle of the night is temporary and probably done with for now, since his first tooth has broken the skin. The book said that the average age for the first tooth coming in is seven months. Usually the first tooth is the worst, since babies aren’t used to the feeling and that they tend to build up a tolerance to the pain for the next ones. The molars are supposed to be rough also, but those don’t come in for at least another eight months or so. All in all, it’s not been too bad for him, so I think we got lucky (again!).
