Fourth of July

We had the very best day yesterday!  We all slept in a little bit and had a relaxing morning around the house, then went to Michelle and and David’s house on Grand Island for a picnic in their backyard (right on the water – gorgeous!).  It was so great to see everyone; we don’t get to see the Gruener side of the family very much.  We left a little bit later than we’d originally planned, but it actually worked out perfectly because Nicky was wide awake for the ride home and enjoyed seeing lots of fireworks on the way.  Right as we pulled into our driveway, the fireworks at the elementary school about a mile from our house were starting, so we had a fantastic view from our driveway.  Chuck, Nicky and I snuggled under a blanket and enjoyed fireworks together and it was just incredible!  We haven’t let Nicky stay up that late since he was probably three or four months old, but it was SO worth it – it was great to see his reaction to all of the colors and sounds!  He even slept in a little bit more today to make up for it, so double yay!
