Ryan measured 22 and 1/2 inches at birth; Chuck didn’t think it was right because the tape broke while the nurse was measuring him and she put it back together (maybe overlapping) before coming up with her measurement. He wanted to ask her to remeasure but didn’t want to be rude. This morning, at the Ryan’s 2-week well-child checkup, the nurse measured him at 21 and 1/2 inches. He probably didn’t shrink; I guess he wasn’t as long as we’d thought at birth, but we’ll never know for sure.
As a reminder, Ryan was 8 pounds, 12 ounces at birth and 8 pounds, 3 ounces when we left the hospital. It usually takes two weeks for babies to get back to the original birth weight and at his visit last week, he was already up to 8 pounds, 9 ounces. This morning, he weighed in at 10 pounds even! What a big boy! I had been wondering about how often he eats (every 2-3 hours) because Nicky ate every 1-2 hours for a really long time. Apparently, Ryan is quite efficient at eating and doing very well. I’m so proud!
