Chuck made a comment last week about being depressed because Nicky can’t have real macaroni and cheese like normal kids, so I became determined to find something that we could all enjoy together instead. I tried this recipe tonight with a couple of substitutions: we couldn’t find nutritional yeast at the store (which was supposed to give the cheesy flavor), so we used a block of soy mozzarella cheese instead and we didn’t plain soy milk, so we used my light vanilla.
I really enjoyed it! Chuck said he liked it a lot, and Nicky took two bites and decided that he didn’t like it, which isn’t unusual for him lately. Sometimes, he’ll eat half of a meal and spit out a bite and say he doesn’t like it. Sometimes, he doesn’t want things that he always loves, so it’s weird lately because he’s usually such a great eater. If nothing else, he always eats a good breakfast, at least one or two bowls of cereal and a banana.
Anyway, I plan to make this mac ‘n cheese again, maybe with a variation next time to try something different. It’s always interesting to try something old with a new twist!

I forgot to add in my previous post Nicky’s newest and cutest act – he sings “tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya, tomorrow” and it’s so cute! I made it my ringtone! Now we’re working on “Copacabana”, “Isn’t She Lovely” and “It’s Not Unusual”.

I know I was supposed to blog more, now that I’ve installed the mobile blogging app to my iPhone, and that hasn’t happened yet. So here are some things that have been going on around here lately:
Easter was really super! We hid eggs with stickers and tattoos in them and Nicky had a blast finding all (but one!) of them. Then we went to Grandma Joan’s house for dinner and Nicky was so good – so what that we had to take him home in a blanket because he spilled water all over both his outfit AND his backup outfit?
My sister got married on Saturday. Everything was gorgeous and we all had a great time! I was a little nervous since Nicky didn’t sleep well at Chuck’s parents’ house and got up at 4:30am (!), but it turned out that he took an early, good nap and was an angel. I’m hoping that my dad will upload some of his photos to the website soon to share because Chuck and I really didn’t take many while we were celebrating.
I had an 18-day hiatus from barfing and then had another bout yesterday morning, ugh! Seriously, enough already!
Uncle Don is here visiting from California and he’s coming over today, yay! We’ll meet Chuck for lunch and I’m sure we’ll have a great time!

iPhone + WordPress App = Mobile Post!

I went a little bit early this month for my visit, but the date worked out well for us. Everything was good; we heard a strong heartbeat again and that’s all I really need right now. Apparently, it’s normal that I’m huge already and it doesn’t mean that I’ll be having a 15-pound baby, thank goodness! And, I’m starting to feel quite a bit better; it’s been a week since I’ve thrown up, and I really feel like I’m over the hump now. This is exactly what I remember from being pregnant with Nicky – “morning” sickness up until the 15-week mark. Moving along to better times now, yay!
My next visit will be on May 13th…we’ll go for the 20-week ultrasound and the regular OB visit, so that should be fun!

Yay for the iPhone…I can now update our blog from the comfort of our bed!
Nicky is getting smarter by the minute. He can count to twenty-four, but he skips fourteen through sixteen. He knows all of his letters and numbers, lots of shapes and colors, and he’s pretty much getting left from right. Also, he talks in phrases and sentences now. It seems like he’s saying more every day!
A funny thing – Chuck and Nicky were playing with blocks last week and knocking them over. Every time they fell over, Chuck said, “Oh, no!” with a British accent. I’ve never heard Nicky laugh so hard! And he started to repeat it himself, so cute!
I hope that since I’ve written down the fun things from the last few weeks, I can do a better job staying current with the events of the Gruener family. I don’t want my baby brain to make me forget anything!

It’s time I finally got back on track with my posting; I haven’t been feeling well lately and have stopped blogging fir a while. I think I’m ready to continue the Gruener saga and announce, for those of you who don’t know yet – Chuck and I are expecting another baby in September!
I’m currently 15 weeks along, and everything is going well, as long as I remember that being SO sick before brought us such a happy and healthy baby. I’ve been throwing up pretty much on a daily basis since about the 5-week mark, just like I did with Nicky. The good news is that things got much better around the 15-week mark with him, so any day I ought to be feeling better. I honestly didn’t think I’d make it this far because it’s been really terrible. It can only get better now!
I’ve already posted a couple photos…the pregnancy test, my first ultrasound and my first “growing belly” photo. I’m sure there will be much more to come!
And, for those of you who want to know – NO, we will not be finding out the sex of the baby. It’s a surprise!

Chuck and I went back and forth for a while trying to decide whether or not to get iPhones. Last week, we finally decided that it would be worth the added expense if we cancelled our home phone service, which we probably haven’t needed for a while. So, my cell phone number is the same, but Chuck’s has been cancelled and our home phone number now rings to Chuck’s iPhone. We figured that lots of important people had that number and that we wouldn’t remember to notify everyone, so that’s the number we kept.
The iPhones ROCK! They can get e-mail and have Internet access just about anywhere, are iPods, and have a gazillion awesome applications that we can download to increase the functionality even more. For instance, I have never been so impressed by anything as I have Shazam – this free application will listen to music (for example, on the radio) and analyze it to bring up a page that has a direct link to iTunes to purchase the song. It also has links to YouTube and information about the artist…so incredible! I will never run out of entertainment again as long as I live!
It also syncs seamlessly to our Mac Mini…so everything’s the same and it’s all backed up. Yay for that! I could go on and on…

I just realized this week that Nicky has started to put words together quite often to make phrases. Mostly, they’re things like, “more (something), please”, “I will” or “eat it”, but sometimes he’ll talk about something that’s his or mine. As usual, I’m amazed by his development.
We’re still working on his finger. He asks for Lansinoh a couple of times a day, at least (he says “wass-i-no”). Occasionally, we can get him to suck his thumb or another finger, but he still likes to suck that finger, so this is going to be a process. I also made a puppet out of a sock for him to wear, and he likes to wear it for a few minutes at a time.
Our latest favorite words from Nicky: “seashells” and “bucket”.
