Ryan’s 6-month pediatrician visit

We took our growing boy to see Dr. Shin this morning for a 6-month well-child visit.  He was 18 pounds, 12 ounces and 28 inches long!  (At his 6-month visit, Nicky was 19 pounds, 10 ounces and 28 and 1/2 inches long, so a little pudgier.)  Everything looks great for him – he’s rolling all over the place now, babbling and loves to stand up with help.  He had three shots, which he took like a champ – he only cried for a few seconds.  Thank goodness, because Nicky had to go potty and one of the receptionists was able to entertain Ryan while I helped him.

A couple of days ago, we started Ryan on his very first solid foods.  He had some rice cereal, which he isn’t in love with but will eat.  In a couple of days, we’ll try some oatmeal for him.  I’m very, very excited to start making baby food again!  Not only is it fun for me, I’ll really enjoy getting more vegetables into all of our diets.  We try to be pretty good about it, but I know we’ll be even better now that I’ll be preparing all of the foods for Ryan.

My new favorite frosting

I made this recipe for chocolate chip buttercream frosting today and it’s now the frosting I will use for cupcakes.  Chuck said he could eat a pound of it.  Yum, yum, YUM!

Lifestream

Ever since I’ve joined Facebook, I’ve been neglecting our blog site. I joined Twitter yesterday in hopes of adding my tweets to the blog so that my friends and family who don’t have Facebook accounts can follow along with our daily lives. You’ll find my latest updates along the left side of the blog for right now – enjoy!

Very literal

Today at lunch, Nicky was singing “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” while he was eating a sandwich and soup.  I told him that maybe he could sing after, meaning after he was done eating.  He then started to sing, “After, after, after…”

Definitely my kid

For breakfast the other day, Nicky got out graham crackers, marshmallows and chocolate chips and set them all on the counter for me.  He really thought we’d have s’mores for breakfast…I wish!

Teeth and raspberries

My little boy grew his VERY first tooth on Monday! It’s beautiful, and the second tooth is on its way, as well. I knew that Nicky would finish growing his teeth just in time for the new baby, and I was right!

Ryan also learned to blow raspberries today. So cute…he’s really entertained by himself. Even as I kissed him good night, he blew one last berry for me!

New photo album

I created a new album last night in our gallery under Family called Winter 2010 and have added a bunch of recent photos.  Enjoy the photos of my handsome men!

Nicky-isms

Nicky is so funny…I love to hear the different things he says.  Here are a few that he’s come up with lately:

  • playing “hide and secret”
  • “No problem, Bob!”

He has a whole routine down for helping me in the bathroom in the morning.  He opens up the toilet seat for me, then opens the shower door.  After I turn on the water, he tests it to make sure it’s not too hot or cold for me.  After I turn off the water, he asks if I had a nice shower.  As I dry off, he says, “Mommy’s warming up in a nice, warm towel!”  Then, he opens the closet door and turns on the light for me and helps to pick out my clothes.  Such a helper-boy – I just love it!

I forgot to add that as I squeegee the shower doors, he Nicky also points out the areas that I need to still squeegee.  :)

Another first tooth!

This morning, when I changed Ryan’s diaper, I saw and felt his very first tooth!  It was just as amazing as when Nicky got his first tooth.  And, it explains a LOT of his behavior lately…not only the drooling and chewing on everything (even when he nurses!), but he has been extremely whiny the past couple of days.  Now we know why!

YouTube video

I uploaded a video of Ryan laughing at Nicky’s antics a few days ago to YouTube.
