Ryan’s 4-month pediatrician visit

I forgot to write down Ryan’s stats from his most recent pediatrician visit on Thursday, so here it is:  he was 16 pounds, 12 ounces and 27 inches long.  A little bit smaller than Nicky was at that age; he was 17 pounds, 10 ounces and 28 inches long.  Either someone measured incorrectly, or our washing machine/dryer has shrunk all of Nicky’s old clothes, because Ryan seems to be longer than Nicky was.  He’s already in 9-month clothes and even has some 12-month clothes that fit nicely.  Such a big boy!

Ryan’s starting to become more fun these days, too.  He LOVES his big brother and smiles when he sees him.  He reaches and grabs and pulls things into his mouth.  He seems to have suddenly made a big leap in his neck strength; he picks his head way up when he’s having tummy time now.  He loves the jumperoo.  He’s been giving little laughs for over a month now, but usually just when he’s having his clothes taken off.  Today, though, when I was singing to him and bouncing him in the air, I got a couple of really beautiful laughs!

I can’t believe how time flies so quickly around here.  My boys are growing so quickly; I’m glad that I’m able to be home with them to enjoy it!

Contest

Here’s a contest to win baby leg warmers…we have a few pairs and love them.  Nicky still wears them under his pants on cold days.  They come in a ton of very cute designs, too!

Beany salad

Chuck made this for lunch today without the onions or red pepper flakes because we didn’t have any.  Great salad!

It's been a while...

Finally, I started to upload some of our photos from the past three months.  Now that I’ve set up a new folder labelled “Family” on the photo site, I’m hoping to keep up with things a little bit more.  Enjoy!

Used up some bananas

We had a few bananas that were too ripe for my liking, so I found a recipe for banana muffins to try.  They were great!  Really moist and yummy…I’ll make them again.

SunButter Balls

A friend whose son has allergies to peanuts (which Nicky cannot have yet) recommended this recipe to me.  It’s certainly not Aunt Leslie’s peanut butter balls, but they’re good!  I’ll make them again for sure!  Plus, I wasn’t even aware of SunButter (made from sunflower seeds) before.  Nicky already had a sample and had no reaction, so now he can have more than just a jelly sandwich.  Yay!

Nicky makes a crack

Last night, Nicky was grabbing at his butt after we’d put his pajamas on.  Chuck asked him if something was wrong with his butt and he said yes.  Chuck asked what was wrong, and Nicky said, “It has a crack in it!”  I couldn’t help but laugh.  :)

Christmas cookie recipes

Here are some recipes that I’ve tried/plan to try for Christmas this year:

Welcome, Adam Joseph Aiello!

The newest member of our family was born today:  Marcie had her baby boy this morning around 8 o’clock.  He was 4 pounds 8 ounces and we’re told that everything is great!  We’re so happy for Todd, Marcie and Abbie!

Christmas Nicky-isms

Nicky really has been lots of fun so far this season and I wanted to document some of the funny things he says and does so that I can remember them.

  • We’ve been missing “Michael”, one of the Little People, from the Fisher Price birthday party set for a long time now – it turns out he was packed away with the Fisher Price nativity scene all year!  So, every day, Chuck puts Michael back upstairs with the birthday party set, and every day Nicky brings him back down and puts him in the manger scene again.
  • We told Nicky that he can touch the ornaments on the Christmas tree with one finger ONLY, so every day he touches all of the ornaments on the tree with one finger, one right after the other.
  • He likes to point to the ornaments I had from when I was a little girl and say, “That’s from when Mommy was a little mommy”.
  • Nicky calls Rudolph, “Rudolph the Nose”.
  • He calls his boots, “booters”.
  • He calls his snowman pop-up book his “pop-it book”.
